PRICES
Note: just a short word about
pricing and computers. Some may look at these prices and say
that they are expensive but everything is relative to your budget,
needs, etc. I have been building and using computers since 1987
and have admined single boxes which cost in excess of $250,000.00.
Any computer with a total cost under say roughly $20,000.00
is still pretty inexpensive when you look at the enterprise
level which is where I have spent a good deal of time.
The specs you see here were
compaired to 5 various Hyper PC builders out on the Internet,
some of them the best known in the industry, all of their prices
ranged from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 higher without a high end
SCSI controller and you have to wait 4 weeks from today to receive
it. I highly recommend Micom Computers in Nashville TN, just
call 615-356-3884 and ask for Iman, I have been doing business
with him for 8 years and you will receive honest and professional
service. Note: this price is for the basic system not for printers,
routers, cameras, etc that are listed under accessories.

of The Mechanizer (08-15-2004)
including 4 major upgrades,
19 months worth of hard core usage (price a lease on
one of these, it is very expensive), all bench work and support
at Micom, all support through vendors. Original Build Date Jan
7th 2003. Started with Matsonic main board, switched it for
ASUS A7V8X before the 14 days was out with Micom. ASUS A7V8X
was replaced with ASUS P4P800 Deluxe. Upgraded RAM about 4 times
before finally settling on 1 gig of Micron PC 2700, added another
gig during the upgrade. CPU started with AMD then switched for
Intel 2.6 HT then finally to the 3.2Ghz HT. Upgraded Monitor
3 times with Micom and Sam's Club. Video card upgraded or changed
5 times.
PRICE COMPARISONS
From http://www.hypersonic-pc.com
with almost identical specs except it has an 8 port SATA controller
(max cable length 1 meter) instead of a Ultra 320 SCSI controller
(my Adaptec can host up to 15 devices on a 35 foot long cable).
The Sonic Boom as configured has 3200 RAM instead of 2700 RAM
and all three of the ATA drives are 8 meg cache buffer, the
SCSI drive is 15K. There is a 4 week lead time on this unit:
